  1. Hi Dave,

I’ve just connected my DMK41 to DSSR to check it functions ok and I can immediately see a couple of things that I would like to have.

    1. is a live histogram that I can leave up to monitor the exposure
    2. is the ability to leave the camera setting dialogue box up AND still be able to hit record etc in the main window while the camera dialogue box is still there. At the moment you have to close the dialogue box to get the focus back on the main window

    regards
    Kev

    • Hi Kev,

The histogram is a great idea and will be included in the next test release.

The camera dialog is a bit trickier because DSSR uses the MS DirectShow camera drivers. This means that DSSR supports a lot of cameras, camcorders, webcams and even microscopes. However, the DirectShow property pages are usually ‘modal’ which means they block everything else until they are closed. If I can find a way, I will make it non-modal.

      • Thank you Dave,

the histogram will be very useful. I understand the problem with modal/non-modal boxes, I guess it isn’t too much of an issue because if the seeing and exposures are bouncing around that much then it probably isn’t worth capturing any images anyway 🙂

      • Kev,

I managed to make the camera dialogs non-modal which means they will be visible throughout your DSSR session. It does make DSSR a lot easier to use. It will be in the next test version I release.

    • Hi Gordon,
DSSR is currently under test by an international team of amateur astronomers. I hope to have a public pre-release demo version available for download by September. I am very happy with the way DSSR is shaping up with the testers’ feedback. The first release will incorporate 2 of the 3 killer features that DSSR will eventually have.
      Many thanks for your interest.

  3. Hi Dave…
would love to obtain this software from you as soon as available….Unfortunately I would use it for solar only,
and that sun is getting more elusive at this time of the year.
