First DSSR Solar Mosaic

Filed under: Sun — Dave @ 1:40 pm

DSSR (Dave’s Solar System Recorder) has full telescope control built in. This allows it to auto-guide on surface features as well as automatically create solar and lunar mosaics.

Below is the first DSSR solar mosaic made using a PST and 2.5x PowerMate. The mosaic was created from 25 video clips of 300 frames each that were captured in DSSR and stacked in AviStack. There is a slight glitch at bottom left where the merging algorithm has failed. Nevertheless, I am very happy with my first automatic solar mosaic.
